Introduction

Hello everyone! Welcome to this Educational Blog about netiquette rules. In this blog we will talk about the Do’s and Don’ts of netiquette. Netiquette is very important so we must know how it works and if we do, then we will be able to make sure everyone we talk and interact to is happy.

What is Netiquette Rules?

It is the combination of the words internet and etiquette. Netiquette rules are the rules for respectful and appropriate communication on the internet. Proper netiquette helps you avoid offending friends, employers, and other people in your social network.

Netiquette Rules

1. Be Respectful to others privacy and opinion.

Don’t forward or share information sent to you without permission of the original sender first. You should not post private information about someone in public if you’re not the owner.

2. Use proper emoji and emotions.

Emotion icons, such as smiley faces, can help show your tone or intention. For example, if you want people to know that you’re joking or emphasize that you’re not upset, a smile and Emoticons are useful. You can use them sometimes, but don’t overuse them.

3. Use proper writing standards.

Start your posts with a greeting and sign off with your name. Writing in all caps is usually mistaken for being angry. Using too many abbreviations can be irritating and also confusing. Use proper spelling to help make a good impression. Avoid heavy slang, unusual acronyms, abbreviations, alternate spellings, and other internet shorthand when communicating in a professional conversation.

4. Use proper language or comments.

Do not use slang or others in an online environment, even if they are words that you consider, "not so bad," as they will sound offensive to the reader. Choose words that reflect your thoughts and feelings. Avoid making blaming statements. Know the meaning of words and phrases you choose. It is very important to use language that fits or matches your audience.

5. Never accept friend requests from strangers.

Cyber safety is a real issue and important. Accepting friend requests from strangers can put you at a risk of online threats. Scammers may hack your profile to collect personal information and gain access to online accounts. Sharing your personal information with unknown persons on the internet can result in identity theft and other problems.

6. Ask permission before posting pictures online.

Do not post pictures without the permission of the owner. Be respectful of people’s wishes and never post something if you were told not to do. In some cases, posting someone’s photo without consent is illegal.

 7. Distinguish real friends from virtual friends.

Bad people are everywhere. Of course, you do not talk to strangers on the streets. Similarly, avoid trusting strangers and talking to them online. With a fake account, they might deceive you into talking with them and revealing personal information about yourself or your family. Accordingly, they can steal your identity and harm you or harm others by using your name.

Group Reflection

Our group learned that it is important to follow netiquette rules because the internet is now an essential part of our lives. It is where people interact and communicate with each other and that is why we need to have rules and keep a safe community for every one.

The challenges we experience in our group is distributing the work equally among the group members. We also took some time to complete our design because each one has a different idea.
